Entrance University Celebrates Excellence at Second Pharm.D Graduation Ceremony

Entrance University of Health Sciences has successfully held its second congregation ceremony for the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) Class of 2025, marking another milestone in the institution’s growing reputation as a center for excellence in health sciences education.

The colourful ceremony brought together distinguished stakeholders from academia, the health sector, education, and traditional leadership, underscoring the university’s expanding influence in Ghana’s healthcare training landscape.

Delivering a keynote address on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Professor Rita Dickson, the Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor David Asamoah, charged the graduating pharmacists to redefine their roles beyond the traditional scope of dispensing medicines.

She emphasized that modern pharmacy practice demands compassion, integrity, and patient-centered care.

“You have been trained to treat every individual with respect, dignity, and empathy regardless of their background. By acting ethically with care, you ensure your practice is not only effective but also human,” the address noted.

The highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of Daniel Osarfo, who emerged as valedictorian of the graduating class. He distinguished himself academically, sweeping top honours in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmacy Practice. In recognition of his exceptional performance, he received a cash award of GH¢10,000 and a laptop presented by the Chancellor, Dr. Samuel Tobbin.

In his address, the President of the University, Professor Aaron Nii Lante Lawson, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to advancing pharmaceutical education. He announced plans to introduce specialized training in industrial pharmacy, an initiative aimed at equipping graduates with skills to strengthen local pharmaceutical manufacturing, enhance competitiveness, and support vaccine development in Ghana and beyond.

The ceremony also reflected on the university’s steady growth. In December 2025, Entrance University marked its first anniversary as a chartered institution, having made significant strides in academic expansion and healthcare training.

The University has since broadened its academic portfolio with the introduction of undergraduate programmes in Medicine (MB ChB) and Dentistry (BDS), alongside the establishment of a School of Nursing. Notably, its School of Dentistry stands as the first of its kind to be established by a private university in the West African sub-region.

As the Class of 2025 joins the healthcare workforce, the ceremony served not only as a celebration of academic achievement but also as a call to service, reminding graduates of their critical role in shaping a more compassionate, innovative, and resilient healthcare system
