Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) programme at Entrance University of Health Sciences is designed to produce highly skilled professional nurses equipped with strong scientific knowledge, clinical competence, ethical discipline, and leadership capacity.

The programme adopts an integrated approach to training, combining classroom instruction, simulation-based laboratory training, and structured clinical rotations in accredited healthcare facilities. This ensures that students gain both theoretical understanding and practical, hands-on experience.

Students are trained to deliver holistic, evidence-based, and patient-centered care across diverse healthcare settings, including hospitals, community health facilities, and international healthcare environments.

The School also provides flexible academic pathways for certificate and diploma holders in Nursing, offering opportunities to upgrade their qualifications to a degree level.

Graduates of the programme are well-prepared to undertake professional licensure examinations and to contribute meaningfully to improving health outcomes at both national and global levels.

Course Structure

The BSc Nursing programme runs over four academic years and progresses through integrated academic and clinical phases.

Year 1:
Foundational Sciences

Students build strong academic foundations in:

  • Human Anatomy

  • Physiology

  • Microbiology

  • Psychology

  • Sociology

  • Introduction to Nursing Practice

  • Communication Skills

This phase establishes scientific understanding and professional orientation.

Year 2:
Core Nursing Sciences

Students advance into:

  • Medical-Surgical Nursing I

  • Pharmacology for Nurses

  • Nutrition & Dietetics

  • Health Assessment

  • Pathophysiology

  • Community Health Nursing

Students begin supervised clinical exposure.

Year 3:
Specialized Nursing Practice

Students undertake deeper clinical training in:

  • Medical-Surgical Nursing II

  • Maternal & Child Health Nursing

  • Paediatric Nursing

  • Mental Health Nursing

  • Research Methods

Clinical rotations intensify during this phase.

Year 4:
Advanced Clinical Practice & Leadership

Students complete:

  • Advanced Clinical Rotations

  • Nursing Management & Leadership

  • Public Health Nursing

  • Research Project

  • Professional Ethics & Legal Issues

Students demonstrate competency through practical assessments and supervised hospital-based training.

Clinical Training

Clinical education is a core component of the BSc Nursing programme and is conducted in accredited hospitals and healthcare institutions under the supervision of licensed and experienced healthcare professionals.

Through structured clinical placements, students gain hands-on experience across key areas of healthcare, including:

General medical wards
Surgical units
Paediatric care units
Maternity and obstetric services
Emergency and trauma care
Community health facilities

This practical exposure enables students to develop clinical competence, professional confidence, and the ability to deliver safe, patient-centered care in diverse healthcare settings.

Graduates are eligible to sit for professional licensure examinations as required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, enabling them to practice as registered nurses.

Admission Requirements

WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants

Credit passes (i.e. at least grade C6 or its equivalence) in the following core subjects:

  • English
  • Core Mathematics
  • Integrated Science
  • Social Studies

Elective Subjects: Credit passes in Chemistry and any two (2) from the following subjects:

  • Physics
  • Biology
  • Elective Mathematics

Other Admissions

  • IGCSE/GCE (Cambridge) – ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels;
  • International Baccalaureate (IB);
  • American High School Grade 12 & 13 Examinations;
  • Other external qualifications with equivalences to WASSCE and GCE (‘A’ Levels)

 

*Any of the above credentials shall be the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission’s equivalences of WASSCE in the subjects listed under WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants.

Tuition fees are payable in Ghanaian Cedis, except  for foreign applicants.

Ghanaian Applicants:
GHS 4,250.00 (Regular Entry – per semester)
GHS 5,270.00 (Weekend Students – per semester)

International Applicants:
USD 430.00 (per semester)
